Family Guided Hikes!

Come join us on our monthly hikes! Four of them will be in collaboration with Gear Hut Reno! These short excursions are led by our knowledgeable naturalists and created for the whole family to enjoy!
Participant numbers will be limited, so be sure to register below!

Donations are not required but are highly appreciated.

Lockwood Trailhead

Lockwood Rd, Sparks, NV 89434

Join us for a family-friendly hike along the Truckee River!

See wild mustangs, lizards, birds, and other wildlife!

Bring sunscreen, water, a hat, your dogs, & a camera!

Drive down I-80 E until you reach the Lockwood Exit. Turn right at the stop sign and make your way down the hill towards the neighborhood. Once down the hill, the trailhead sign is on the right! Pull in to find the parking lot and restrooms. We'll meet there!

This is a popular event, and registration is limited. Book now!

Guided hikes are scheduled and occur permitting weather. We will attempt to notify you 24 hours in advance if the hike will be rescheduled. Some weather conditions that will result in cancellation include but are not limited to an Air Quality Index (AQI) greater than 100, chain controls on major highways, or rain. Hikes will only be rescheduled once.

Our guided hikes are free to all members of the family. Payment is not required, but donations are definitely appreciated! Because of donor support, we are able to keep our program costs low to reach those in underserved communities. Each family who donates will receive a field guide in appreciation for supporting us!
